karrigan's team produced an exciting clash with NAVI in the semi-finals.
FaZe defeated Liquid easily at the Forum
FaZe had a devastating display as they defeated Liquid in two consecutive maps to advance to the semi-finals at BLAST Premier Fall Final.
This is a rematch of the tense group stage match at IEM Cologne, where FaZe made a stunning comeback from 11-1 down on the deciding map. However, this time Liquid completely collapsed as they were outclassed in every aspect of the series that lasted less than an hour and a half.
This was a typically scary display from FaZe in the playoffs, which will certainly make Natus Vincere wary ahead of Saturday's semi-finals
"I can't remember the last time we played this well," Finn "karrigan" Andersen said in his post-match interview. "When we play like that... I just love playing with this team."
The early stages of the Inferno map were quite chaotic, with neither team able to grasp an advantage. After that, FaZe took control of the match and led 8-4 before the break — a score that could have been more lopsided if Justin "jks" Savage hadn't pulled off two great rounds in a row, including includes an ace in an A rematch.
Håvard "rain" Nygaard then kept FaZe in control with 3 kills in the pistol round. FaZe quickly reached the decisive point of the map, and although Liquid still tried to respond, it was too late.
FaZe continued to maintain their winning momentum on the Mirage map, and like in Cologne, they had an 11-1 round against CT. Everything seemed so easy when Robin "ropz" Kool held the AWP and quickly scored an ace, pleasing the commentators and audience at the Forum.
But unlike that day in Cologne, this time there would be no comeback in the second half. Liquid only won 2 rounds on defense, while FaZe quickly ended the match and advanced straight to the semi-finals.
"It was truly a joy to compete," karrigan said. "I hope we can deliver a similar performance tomorrow against the best team in the world."
