Turkish organization Sangal have announced their parting ways with Dawid "SaMey" Stańczak, ending the Polish sniper's seven-month stint on the team.
This roster change comes just days after the mid-season break, after Sangal unsuccessfully competed at Europe RMR B for the Perfect World Shanghai Major. The team, which was expected to be a dark horse, failed miserably, only scoring single points on maps against MOUZ, Cloud9, and ECLOT.
Sangal could not recover from heavy losses in Best-of-One matches, and did not show the same form as before when the team won three online CCT titles and appeared at ESL Pro League S20 with RES Regional Champions.
"This tournament and maybe the last few weeks felt like we were missing some essential elements," Linus "LNZ" Holtäng told HLTV after being eliminated at RMR. "I'm not sure what those factors are, but we need to reassess and come back stronger in 2025."
SaMey joined Sangal from ex-Anonymo in May and averaged a rating of 1.02 over 192 maps during competition, but his performance dropped significantly on LAN (0.88 over 27 maps), especially when vs teams in the top 20 (0.81 over 13 maps).
SaMey's departure may not be the only change for Sangal in the transfer window. Rumors are also swirling about the future of Samet "jottAAA" Köklü. This Turkish international is playing on loan from Eternal Fire, the team was also eliminated early at RMR and could change their lineup. Rumors in the Turkish community also indicate interest from G2 in jottAAA.
Sangal's current squad:
• Linus "LNZ" Holtäng
• Simon "yxngstxr" Boije
• Yasin "xfl0ud" Koç
• Samet "jottAAA" Köklü (playing on loan)
• Jimmy "Jumpy" Berndtsson (coach)
