LPL continues to suffer heavy losses.

LPL continues to discover strong match-fixing cases at LDL

For a long time, the LDL tournament (a tournament for youth teams in the LPL, similar to the Challengers tournament of the LCK) has been considered the "cradle" of training players for the main team. However, this tournament is also mired in negativity with at least one match-fixing case being exposed every year. Even the organizers of LPL and Riot suspended the tournament indefinitely because of too much match-fixing.

LDL continues to be exposed as a major match-fixing case

Recently, through the investigation process, LPL continued to discover negativity in this tournament. Accordingly, 6 players and 1 coach at LDL have been banned from all competitive activities in Riot games for life for actions such as: affecting the fairness of the match, placing bets for themselves, and making false statements during the investigation process.

In addition, 3 other players were banned from competition for 1 year and 3 years respectively. If this case is included, in the second half of the year alone, 10 people at LDL were punished for being involved in match-fixing. Among the three players above, TheNiu was just promoted to FunPlus Phoenix's first team this past summer.

LPL sinks deep to "rock bottom"

In fact, for a region to develop, it is necessary to have a class of talented young players who are continuously trained and played. However, the problem with the current LPL: they only have a few stars from the top teams and the LDL (young players' tournament) is mired in match-fixing cases.

The above cases only include individuals or groups that were detected and handled. Young players at LDL are also losing motivation. The environment is not capable of development, the salary is low but it is all negative. LDL was originally a training ground for new recruits but has now changed.

LPL's generation of superstars is gradually reaching the end of their careers but they do not have a successor

Not to mention, the regulation prohibiting players under 18 years old from playing professionally also significantly affects the development of this area. In addition, recently, the LPL and Riot did not require teams to have a youth team. Immediately, many teams disbanded their squads playing at LDL to cut budgets.

Veterans currently playing in the LPL will have to retire at some point. But in the context of no successor generation, the dark future is clearly visible before the eyes of the LPL region.
