Astralis Device's star AWPer has been ruled out of the remainder of the season.
Shanghai Major 2024 will not have Astralis star Nicolai "device" Reedtz. The legendary player has announced that he will miss the remainder of the CS2 season due to recurring stress-related health issues. Device recently shared his struggles in a detailed post on X, explaining his symptoms and his decision to prioritize his health.
Device's health challenges recurred during preparations for the Shanghai Major
Device's health difficulties began during the BLAST Premier World Finals in Singapore. After the long trip, this player experienced countless symptoms. Although he hoped to improve upon returning home, his condition remained unstable, leaving him unable to compete.

"The first few nights, I had sleep problems and I didn't sleep more than a few hours a night. As the week went on, I gradually experienced worse symptoms, including less sleep, cramps, heart rapid heartbeat and extreme fatigue."
Device explains the relapse
This is not the first time Device has encountered health-related problems. In 2017, the player retired from competitive play, with teammate Peter "dupreeh" Rasmussen taking over AWPing duties. A similar stress-related issue also forced him out of competition in 2021 during his time with Ninjas in Pajamas.
Device emphasized the emotional difficulty of the decision in the tweet, especially knowing that it would disappoint his fans. However, he remains optimistic about returning to professional competition in early 2025.
Astralis roster changes for Shanghai Major
With Device sidelined, Astralis will rely on Alexander "br0" Bro, who will step up from the bench to play at RMR. If the team is successful in its RMR campaign, br0 will also be part of the Shanghai Major roster. Initially, this rifle was dropped by a controversial decision to make way for Casper "cadiaN" Møller. His return to the lineup further complicates Astralis' new roster.
The members of Astralis supported Device's decision, with teammates and fans cheering for his successful recovery. With a busy competition schedule in 2025, Device hopes to have the best health to handle the trip.

Shanghai Major: Fifth Major without Device
Unfortunately, this announcement extended device's absence from the Majors. The last time the Danish player appeared at typical CS tournaments was in 2021 with Ninjas in Pajamas. That campaign, notably a 16-1 win over Astralis, saw Device claim another top-eight spot at the event. Subsequent health issues sidelined the legendary Ninjas in Pajamas player.
Device eventually rejoined Astralis after missing both major tournaments in 2022. However, Astralis has since failed to qualify for major tournaments. With a strong performance in Singapore, a spot at the Shanghai Grand Tournament could be within reach for the Danish team, but this goal seems unlikely in the absence of their star AWPer and injury. cadiaN's elbow injury.
"Finally, I want to thank my amazing teammates and colleagues at Astralis for being so understanding and supportive. I'm grateful that br0 is on board and I'll be supporting the boys from home , and I hope you will too."
