G2 Esports Skewmond has shared a dramatic victory in a series of games at Mid-SEASON INVITAL 2025 against the Esports GAM. Speaking on stage after the match, he shared his thoughts on the bold decision to choose Viego in game 5, the progress of the team during the tournament and the upcoming confrontation with Gen.G and the legendary jungler Canyon.
Before entering the main group stage of MSI 2025, G2 Esports had to go through a challenging play-in phase, fighting hard to ensure their position. Earlier in the tournament, the team suffered a 0: 3 defeat before Bilibili Gaming, emphasizing the high level of competition and development needs. That experience has become a driving force to improve when G2 draws lessons from mistakes and prepares for more difficult matches ahead.
In a series of five decisive matches, Skewmond showed an incredible confidence when choosing a bold Viego in game 5. Looking back at this moment, he shared: "It was a long series, I didn't even remember the first game. I just knew that I had made many mistakes in the early stages. But I was quite satisfied when I was confident enough to choose Viego ... I was really happy with this victory."
During the tournament, the cohesion and confidence of the team developed significantly, something Skewmond also admitted: "I think I am much more confident now on stage ... When I review our first Bo5 with Furia, I think we have played a lot more."
For Skewmond, this is the first time he has participated in the international experience on stage, increasing the emotional meaning to their success: "Because we do not win Lec, the best thing that can happen to us is to cross the play-Ins ... I just hope we can confront the strongest teams in the world."
However, not everything goes smoothly - failure 0: 3 before Bilibili Gaming is a harsh reminder of the strength of the opponent and bringing valuable lessons: "We have been heavily defeated. It's okay. I think we have learned good lessons from the series of five matches."
The next challenge is the confrontation with Gen.G, paying special attention to the forest battle with Canyon - one of the best players in the world: "It is a dream for me when playing with a big player like Canyon ... I just hope I can prove that I can really compete with the best people in the world."
After a series of long games, the team will have time to rest and work to improve the consistency in the future: "We will rest a bit after this long series. I just hope we will bring more consistency in the series ... My Nunu is not working well. I am quite sad. But maybe I can choose it next week against Gen.G."
The play-in victory has guaranteed the G2 path in the main group stage of MSI 2025, where they will confront the leading team of the Korean tournament Gen.G. This confrontation represents an important challenge for the team and especially for Skewmond, who is eager to prove themselves on the global stage. Resting and refining the strategy will be important steps before the upcoming challenge.
MID-SEASON INVITATIONAL 2025 takes place from June 27 to July 12 in Canada, with a total prize worth 2,000,000 USD.
