First Stand 2025 tournament: First time Fearless Draft is applied in the international tournament

In less than a week, the new international event of League of Legends - First Stand 2025 - will officially take place. The tournament will have the participation of five teams with a total prize of up to 1 million USD.
At the end of 2024, Riot Games announced major changes to the League of Legends Esports. In particular, the game publisher introduced a new tournament system, and organized an international event called First Stand.

The tournament will gather five champions from the areas: Korea (LCK), China (LPL), Europe - North Africa - Middle East (EMEA), America (LTA) and Asia - Pacific (LCP). The First Stand 2025 event will take place at LCK Studio, Seoul, South Korea from March 10 to March 16, with five participating teams including Hanwha Life Esports, Team Liquid, Top Esports, CTBC Flying Oyster and Karmine Corp.
In terms of formula, the tournament will consist of two stages: the group stage and the play-off round. In the group stage, the teams will compete in a circle, determining the results with the BO3 and the team at the bottom of the table will be eliminated. Next, the four teams entered the play-off round will play the live form of the Bo5 format to find the champion of the tournament.

First Stand 2025 is also the first international event that Riot Games applies the Fearless Draft. According to this format, each team can only use a single general during a match. The generals chosen in the previous game will automatically be banned in the next games of that match. All the regional tournaments at the beginning of the year of the League of Legends have applied this format and received positive feedback from the community.
The total prize of the tournament will be 1 million USD, of which: The champion receives $ 300,000, the runner -up receives $ 225,000, the third and fourth rank each team receives 172,500 USD, while the team ranked $ 130,000. In addition, the area that won the First Stand will have a great advantage when the representative team of that area attending the MSI 2025 will be in the group stage without playing the play-in round.
