The only team without a salary at RMR proved its worth with a decisive victory over M80.

BOSS overcame M80 in their opening match.

BOSS made M80's start at Perfect World Shanghai Major Americas RMR difficult by defeating them 13-7 on the Vertigo map, pushing one of the teams expected to qualify from the RMR round to group 0 -1, where FURIA and Liquid also entered after surprising losses earlier in the day.

Matthew "Cryptic" Whitmore's team started the match with a score of 1-4 but came back with a streak of 10 consecutive winning rounds. Gavin "Fruitcupx" Norman shined in his international debut with an 18-10 K-D record and a match-high 1.56 rating.

Complexity, paiN, and 9z ensured that at least some of the expected teams had wins in their opening matches, with easy wins over BESTIA, Nouns, and RED Canids. RED Canids fought back against 9z, but Antonio "MartinezSa" Martinez turned the situation around with a late-game 2v4 to regain control for his team.

Lucas "nqz" Soares destroyed Nouns with a 1.98 performance (15-2 K-D at half-time) as paiN cruised to an easy win, while Complexity also overcame a difficult start (1-4) thanks to Michael "Grim" Wince and Ricky "floppy" Kemery for coordination, showing that the team doesn't just rely on "ElIGE's Show".
