The qualifying phase under the Swiss system has ended. 8 teams were eliminated and 8 teams advanced to the play-off round at PGL Wallachia Season 2.

The first post-TI event of the season, PGL Wallachia Season 2 kicked off last week with much drama. After the minor incident of not being able to gather enough players in time (Nigma Galaxy had to forfeit the first series against Team Falcons), there was a bit of a dispute between the Falcons and AVULUS (which was resolved and is good because they both advanced to the play-offs).

With all of that behind us, there are plenty of exciting Dota 2 matches and a chance for fans to see some potential new lineups for the season. Although the Falcons struggled at the top of the league due to non-professional factors, the team from the MENA region once again topped the rankings to start the season. They finished the group stage with a 3-0 record.

The surprising but interesting thing is that Heroic ranked one place above them to take first place. Although there were high expectations surrounding Nigma's roster with former PSG.Quest mid player Tony "No!ob" Assaf and position 4 support Omar "OmaR" Moughrabi, the team struggled after having to give up. They only won against beastcoast but couldn't go further.

On the other hand, Natus Vincere with Clement 'Puppey' Ivanov and Miroslav "BOOM" Bičan are doing quite well, losing only one series. For many people, cheering for NAVI with Puppey (not to mention just Puppey) brings back a feeling of nostalgia. This was only enhanced further by witnessing the El Clasico series between them and Alliance (spoiler alert NAVI changed the landscape).

However, the nostalgia ends here as Alliance failed to qualify, losing their final match to Infinity. With that win, the South Americans became the third of four teams from their region to qualify for the play-offs.

Play will continue tomorrow, Thursday, October 10 with matches in the upper bracket.
