The 16 team tournament will not be held at Blast Studios in Copenhagen as initially announced.

The group stage of Blast Open Season 2 will be held online, according to the latest notice from Blast. The LAN phase will only take place at Ovo Arena Wembley in London, which gathered the top three teams from each group.

The switch to online in the group stage was mentioned by Blast as a small detail in the notice of many years of cooperation agreement with gamingmalta. Under this agreement, the Blast Bounty Season 2 finals will be held in Malta.

Currently, it is still unclear why Blast decided to quit playing in the group stage of Open London. At the first Open event of the year, the group stage was held at Blast Studios in Copenhagen, before the top six teams flew to Lisbon to play a knockout round.

According to Graham "⁠messososo⁠" Pitt, General Director of Complexity, on the X platform (Twitter), the switch to online competition will significantly affect the VRS point calculation system, when the group stage almost becomes an online closed qualifier.

This also means that Rivals will be the only event in the second half of the season that is held entirely in the form of LAN, taking place from November 12–16 in Hong Kong.

The online competition of Blast Open London will start on August 27. The twelve of the 16 teams will be determined based on the VRS ranking system, while the remaining four teams will come from Blast Rising tournaments in Europe, North America, South America and Asia.

The Blast representative has not made an official comment on this change decision.
