Both teams were eliminated by teams from Eastern Europe - the teams who have passed the open qualifying round of the Western Europe.
The two prominent Dota 2 organizations in Western Europe, Mouz and Team Secret, will not participate in The International (TI) 2025, the annual World Championship of Dota 2, after a short performance in the Western European qualifier.
Both are among the four teams invited directly to the closed qualifying round of the area and are defaulted to the quarterfinals. However, they were quickly eliminated after consecutive failures, mainly in front of the teams that passed the opening round from Eastern Europe.
Mouz started with a 0-2 defeat before 1win, causing them to fall down. Here, they encountered a team from the Eastern European qualifying round, Virtus.pro. The weird play with the choice of Huskar position 5 from Mouz has led to a rapid defeat in 25 minutes in the first match. Although the second game is a more hope, Mouz finally failed.
Many viewers expect the organization from Germany to shine on the journey to TI 2025, thanks to the potential squad. Mouz was led by experienced captain and three times Major - Melchior "Seleri" Hillenkamp, besides other prominent names such as Abed Azel "Abed" Yusop and Nicholas "Zeal" Lim from Southeast Asia.
However, this squad still cannot be converted into actual results. After the fading debut last month, Mouz once again disappointed in the Ti qualifying round.
Even more surprising is the early prize of Team Secret. The team bears the heritage and attraction, with the first Ti champion Clement "Puppey" Ivanov as the captain.
Once a formidable force in Tier 1, Secret has fallen since he came second in Ti 2022. Since then, they could not find the old glory and did not even overcome the big qualifiers.
In the Ti 2025 area qualifying round, Secret is considered a remarkable unknown. Although the recent form is not good, fans still expect the team to be surprised by the long -standing reputation. However, Secret started not smoothly when losing OG at the opening match.
Falling down the losing branch, they continued to defeat 0-2 against a team from the open qualifying round with the less known names-Yellow Submarine. And so, one of the largest names in the region has been officially eliminated from the qualifying round - marking the third consecutive year Team Secret absent in Ti.
The battle for Ti Ti to continue
With Mouz and Team Secret eliminated, only eight competition teams: 1win, Natus Vincere (Navi) Junior, OG, Nigma Galaxy, Virtus.pro, Yellow Submarine, Avulus, and 4pirates.
Notably, only three of the remaining eight teams are in Western Europe, while the rest are Eastern European teams through the open qualifying round.
In the end, only the two best teams in this area will win the right to attend this year. The winning teams will be invited directly and other teams to qualify for the Dota World Championship 2 this year.
The list of teams invited directly to this year includes:
Team Liquid, Tundra Esports, Team Falcons, and Gainin Gladiators from Western Europe; Parivision, Betboom Team, and Team Spirit from Eastern Europe; Along with All Gamers Global (formerly the TideBound team) from China.
Meanwhile, the current regional qualifying teams include: Aurora Gaming (Eastern Europe), Heroic (South America), Xtreme Gaming (China), and Wildcard (North America).
This year's Ti area qualifier takes place in two weeks, from 4 to 17 June, with three competitions including two areas each.
The last phase is Southeast Asia and Western Europe, taking place from 13 to 17 June, with two capacity from each area to win tickets to the Dota World Championship 2 this year.
