Marielle "Layla" Louise has made a historic imprint in Dota 2 when she became the first woman who was eligible to attend a tournament of Valve's Major system. This is considered the greatest achievement of a female player in professional Dota 2 history.

This event took place in March 2017, when her team - Wheel While Whistling - has surpassed the North American opening qualifying round to enter The Kiev Major's closed qualifying round.

Layla's team came second in the first qualifying round, defeating a series of strong teams, including Vegetables Esports Club - a team of many famous figures in the Dota 2 community like William "Blitz" Lee and Austin "Capitalist" Walsh. Notably, the Vegetables team refused to participate in the final match, paving the way for Layla's team to enter the next round.

However, Wheel While Whistling did not win any victory in the closed qualifying round, when facing the leading professional teams in the region, including Complexity Gaming.

Although the end result is not as expected, Layla appeared in such a prestigious playground has become the most important milestone of female electronic sports in Dota 2.
