Team Liquid made some big changes today, as 33 left the roster and SabeRLight returned after nearly a year away.
Neta '33' Shapira has been a part of the Dota 2 scene for a long time, playing for teams like Hellraisers (formerly Planet Dog), OpTic Gaming, and Ninjas in Pajamas. However, this player's most outstanding achievement, aside from several wins at DPC Minor tournaments, came in 2022 when he won the Aegis of Champions with Tundra Esports. Fast forward to this year, 33 became the first player in history to win TI with two different teams – as he helped Team Liquid achieve a resounding victory. Now, as teams make major changes preparing for the next season, 33 has left Team Liquid.
Today, via their social media, Liquid confirmed that 33 will be leaving the team that just won TI, and thanked him for his time with the team. Joining in November 2023, 33 quickly took on the role of captain and during his time with the team, Liquid finished runner-up at BetBoom Dacha Dubai 2024 and Riyadh Masters 2024 – while recently winning the championship position at Elite League Season 2 and of course, The International 2024.
Conversely, Liquid also took the opportunity to confirm a replacement for 33, which is Jonáš 'SabeRLighT-' Volek, who returns to the team after having played with them at ESL One Kuala Lumpur 2023. After ESL One, SabeRLight played for Shopify Rebellion for a while, and despite officially leaving their roster in May of this year, he continued to stay with the team throughout the disappointing Elite League Season 2. He will now take on the TI champion's offlane role and carry the team through the remainder of 2024 and into 2025.
Team Liquid's new roster includes:
Michał 'Nisha' Jankowski
Aydin 'iNsania' Sarkohi
Samuel 'Boxi' Svahn
Micke 'miCKe' Vu
Jonáš 'SabeRLighT-' Volek
33's future is already clear, with rumors swirling of his return to Tundra ahead of TI 2024. Shortly after Liquid announced his departure from the team, Tundra was ready to confirm his return his into their squad. In a post from William 'BlitZ' Lee, he pointed out that 33 is happy with Liquid, but wants to build a team from the ground up and be allowed complete freedom to do what he desires.
