G2 Caps ponders whether Los Ratones could be a good LEC team
LOL20-12 15:48

Los Ratones, Caedrel's professional League of Legends team, had a promising performance at the Red Bull: League of its Own event. Sure, T1's players didn't play their roles, but their chemistry as a team combined with some very good scrim results got Caedrel fans and the team's streamers excited.

I asked Thebausffs himself if this streamer dream team could make it to the LEC and he confirmed that he is already better than most of the LEC laners. He has high expectations for what he and the rest of his teammates can do, which is why I'm curious about how an LEC legend like G2 mid laner Caps thinks they How would they perform if they were sent down to Europe's Division 1 League?

When I broached this topic in an interview with him, he had a surprisingly insightful answer on the subject and was very respectful of Baus himself. But he also doesn't buy into the idea that Los Ratones are ready for the LEC. At least not yet.

Caps believes that Los Ratones has potential

This interview took place right after G2's match against T1 at Red Bull: League of its Own, so the events of the match were still fresh in Caps' minds. And, according to the star mid laner, he took inspiration from Thebaus when he switched roles to top during the exhibition match.

“I mean, actually, I've seen quite a bit of Los Ratones. I think they are very interesting to watch. In addition, this is also a time when there are not many matches taking place. And I think a lot of the practice matches and tournaments they participate in are quite interesting. And obviously I've always been a big fan of Baus in terms of… I think his playing style is quite interesting.

“Today, when I played top, I thought about taking out his top Kayn and doing a proxy strategy. And instead, I chose Trundle, which is a similar playstyle, you know? That's also how the game goes, a lot of 1v2, 1v3.”

However, the Caps were a bit hesitant when it came to how they would rank against other professional teams. After a moment of silence, he gave this answer:

“I still think they have a long way to go. I think the top three LEC are very optimistic. They have some strong players and I think Baus has definitely shown some good signs. So the question is does he have time to practice, does he have time to improve and is he serious about it, right?

Baus is an entertainer at heart. Can he maintain that performance on his way to becoming a true LoL pro?

“That's the problem. I don't know how serious he is about professional play in general. Like, at the end of the day, I think he still just wants to entertain and do funny things. If he really wanted his play to be optimal for winning instead of maybe fun to watch or play, then I think they'd probably end up with like… I don't know, I mean, I still thinking top three seems a bit optimistic, but I wouldn't be too shocked if top six or something.

“Honestly, I think they have some good players in the team. For me, the question mark is both Velja and Baus catching up to everyone else and then the Alliance as a whole.” Caps explained. “They will need to really step up. But I think, potentially, I can see it.”
