In a surprise decision, the Swedish international will no longer play for NIP despite initially planning to return in 2025.

maxster played his last match for NIP in September at the ESL Pro League

Ninjas in Pajamas (NIP) announced that Max "maxster" Jansson has been placed on the bench by mutual agreement with the 20-year-old and will not be part of the team's plans for 2025.

maxster was placed on the injured list in October ahead of the Elisa Masters Espoo, where NIP were eliminated early after losses to B8 and JANO.

Jacob "jocab" Nerheden, who was called up from the youth team to play in Finland, continued with the team in the Thunderpick World Championship, Svenska Cuppen — where NIP lost the final to Metizport — and YaLLa Compass Fall.

Following this, NIP announced that jocab would continue to play with the team at the RMR qualifiers of the Perfect World Shanghai Major, with general manager Björn "THREAT" Pers asserting that "this is not a decision to drop maxster or promote for jocab."

Two days later, the maxster himself spoke up to confirm that he feels his health has improved a lot, but the team does not want to rush him back and he will reappear in 2025. However, this plan has now been change as both sides seek exit strategies.

THREAT, the team's general manager, will go live on his Twitch channel at 00:00 to further explain the decision.

maxster is a "product" of the Young Ninjas youth team, where he played from March 2022 to March 2024 before being called up to the main team.

During maxster's time in play, NIP mainly struggled due to roster instability, with early exits in the group stages of ESL Pro League Seasons 19 and 20, as well as BLAST Premier Fall Groups. However, he was also part of the team that won runner-up at YaLLa Compass.
