TI 2025 is scheduled to take place from September 4 to 14 in Hamburg, Germany, with the playoffs round held at Barclays Arena. This will be the first time since the opening version of Ti in 2011, the Dota 2 World Championship was held in Germany. Ti 2011 was the place where Dota was officially launched in the world for the first time through a US $ 1 million tournament - something unprecedented in the field of electronic sports at that time.
TI 2025 will be divided into two separate stages: The Road to the International and The International, along with a new group group group group. The Road to the International will include the Swiss format group stage and special qualifying, while The International will officially include the playoffs.
The group stage and special qualifying round of TI 2025 will take place from 4 to 7 September. The new Swiss format group stage will include 16 teams playing in a Swiss branch of five rounds, all in the BO3 format. The teams need to win four victories to enter the Playoffs, while the four losing teams will be eliminated. The three teams will go straight to the playoffs and the three teams are eliminated after the group stage.
The remaining 10 teams will continue to play in the special qualifying round, where high seed teams will face low seed teams. Winning teams will win the right to playoffs, and the losing team will be eliminated. In total, this year The Road to The International will select eight teams to enter The International and break up with the other eight teams.
The official International, the playoffs, will take place from 11 to 14 September, and still keep the familiar double format that fans are so familiar with. However, instead of some teams starting in the losing branch like the previous versions, the TI 2025 playoffs will allow all eight teams to start at the Branch.
As usual, the matchoffs matches of TI 2025 will follow the BO3 formula, except for the final final will be a series of bo5s to compete for the championship with the prestigious Aegis of Champions.
