The organizer of the Starladder tournament officially announced that the second Major will be hosted in 2025 of CS2. The tournament is scheduled to take place in Budapest, Hungary, from November 24 to December 14.

This is the first time in 6 years, Starladder returned to organize a Major of CS2, since Starladder Berlin Major 2019. The information was confirmed on the night of 12/5, with the official name of the event, Starladder Budapest Major 2025.

The tournament will apply the new form for Major, similar to the upcoming Austin Major, with a total of 32 participating teams divided into 4 stages. In particular, all the matches of the tournament will be open to the audience to watch directly.

Phase 1 to 3 takes place from November 24 to December 7 at MTK Sportpark, the playground has a capacity of 2,000 spectators.

The play-off round will be held from 11 to 14/12 at MVM Dome, the stadium can accommodate up to 20,000 people.

This is the second time in Starladder history to organize a Major tournament of the CS: GO - CS2 system. Earlier, at Berlin Major 2019, the Astralis team won the third consecutive Major title and set a record for 4 Major championships - the achievement that has not overcome.

Major's new competitive format:

The tournament is divided into 4 stages:

MRQ (Mid -qualifier Round)-equivalent to the previous RMR round

Stage 1

Stage 2 (Challengers Stage)

Stage 3 (Legends Stage)

All Stage rounds (Stage 1, 2, 3) apply the Swiss format, where teams need to win 3 wins to continue.

Specifically:

8 teams are invited to Stage 3 based on the Valve ranking (VRS), including 6 teams from Europe, 1 Asian Team and 1 American team.

8 other teams with lower rankings will be invited to attend Stage 2, including 4 teams from Europe and 4 teams from the Americas.

Finally, the MRQ round, with 40 teams from different areas to select 16 teams into Stage 1.

After finishing 3 rounds of the stage, the 8 best teams will enter the knockout round to fight the championship - similar to the previous Major.
