Despite helping Talon win the first Lan Championship in Dota 2 last year, the disappointing results in 2025 led to Natsumi's leave.
Talon Esports seems to be preparing for a DOTA 2 reform after they officially parted with Filipino Carry John Anthony "Natsumi-" Vargas on Friday (April 25).
Natsumi joined the Talon in mid-December 2024, right after he contributed greatly to help the team win the first spread championship at MESA Invitational 2024 as Stand-in. However, Talon was unable to repeat that success, resulting in Natsumi leaving the team after only four months of official play in the squad.
Although Talon has partly affirmed its position as the leading team in Southeast Asia in the first four months of 2025, they encountered many difficulties when confronting international teams.
Talon's best achievement in 2025 is currently in the top 6 at Fissure Playground #1 in early February. However, everything quickly slipped later. Only four days later Fissure Playground #1, they were eliminated early from Blast Slam II with a 9-10-class position after winning only one victory in the group stage.
In March, Talon only attended a single tournament, Fissure Universe: Episode 4, where they went to the finish line at the 12-14 position of 16 teams. Despite the qualifying round to participate in the Dreamleague Season 26 in early April, the bad result series continued when they stood at the table at ESL One Raleigh 2025 and PGL Wallachia Season 4.
After Natsumi left, Talon's dota 2 squad now has only four members:
1.TBA
2.Rafli Fathur "Mikoto" Rahman
3.General "ws`" wei shen
4.Tri "Jhocam" Kuncoro
5.Carlo "Kuku" Palad
Talon has not yet announced anyone will replace the Carry position of Natsumi, but it is expected that the new player will be revealed before the team at the Dreamleague Season 26 on May 19. It is still unclear whether this is the only change in the squad, when many people think that a "overhaul" is essential if the Talon wants to improve the achievement significantly.
The results in the first half of this year will play an important role in determining the direct invitations to The International 2025 in September. The pressure is weighing on teams around the world if they want to be invited or win tickets to the Dota World Championship for 2 years.
