The nine -month -long term of Danish coach in Liquid has ended.
Liquid's most noticeable achievement under the Mithr period was to reach the quarterfinals of Perfect World Shanghai Major
Liquid has announced that Torbjørn "mithr" Nyborg will leave the head coach position. The current analyst of the team, Jay "Demars Derover" Li, will take on the role of a temporary coach while Liquid "seek new training options."
This information appeared shortly after HLTV reported that Liquid was negotiating to recruit Kamil "siihy" Szkaradek as the captain's position.
"I will remember the autumn in 2024," Mithr shared in a post on X. "I never felt welcome, respect, trust, confidence or motivation as much as in this team.
"In 2025, it didn't happen as we wanted. I was extremely disappointed and sad because everything ended this way, but I would ponder and learn from this [...] In the end, I believe this is the best decision for both sides."
Mithr joined Liquid in mid -2024 in the context of the team trying to rebuild after the collapse of the old squad including Casper "cadian" Møller, Felipe "skullz" Medeiros and Wilton "zews" Prado.
After that, Liquid continued to add Justin "jks" Savage and Roland "ultimate" Tomkowiak, and handed the captain to Russel "twistzz" Van Dulken. When announcing the contract with Mithr, Liquid emphasized his ability to "develop the IGL", which is expected to help Twistzz adapt to the new role.
Liquid did not achieve significant achievements under the Mithr period, often missed the playoffs in big tournaments and never risen to a higher position than 5-6. Their most outstanding achievement is in the top 5-8 at ESL Pro League in season 20 and 21, along with the same results at Perfect World Shanghai Major.
It seems that Mithr's effort in supporting Twistzz transforms into the role of IGL that has not achieved success, when the Canadian player is about to give up this position to yield to Siuhy, in the case of Liquid completing his recruitment deal in the near future as expected.
According to a recent report from Dust2.DK, economic factors may have affected Liquid's decision. The article quoted the sources as saying, "Liquid is currently operating with a narrowed financial budget," and this "has a significant impact on the decision making process."
