Valve changes the CS2 tournament rules - fair conditions for the player and the exclusive contract ban

Valve has updated the CS2 tournament rules, significantly tightening control over the tournament organizers. Companies organizing the tournament now have to ensure fair living conditions for teams, have a transparent financial mechanism and avoid conflicts of interest.

Context
Previously, organizers had more freedom in choosing conditions for teams. For example, blasts are often arranged for teams in different hotels, which can affect the comfort and preparation process before the match. However, Valve currently requires all teams to participate in the same tournament period to be provided with the same conditions for accommodation, eating, training and technical support areas.

Changes in new rules
One of the most important changes is the ban on exclusive contracts, which restricted teams to participate in other tournaments. Now, the tournament organizers cannot prevent players and organize other events, unless they are present at the Lan Lan venue during the official time.

In addition, the tournament organizers are not treated differently from the teams. If a company shares revenue or provides financial support, these conditions must be applied evenly to all teams, regardless of whether they are invited or won through the qualifying round. If there is a difference, they must be based on objective criteria, such as the popularity of the team or their ranking.

Valve also requires complete transparency in business relationships between organizers and teams. If a tournament organization has a financial relations or management with any organization, they must disclose this information and approve Valve. If not, they may have to resolve conflicts of interest within two weeks or face the risk of valve to end cooperation.
Consequences may occur
These changes can affect all major tournaments, especially previous tournaments with differences in conditions for teams. Organizers will have to change the policy or face the risk of losing the right to organize Valve's tournaments. Meanwhile, the new rule can minimize the risk of implicit agreements and improve fairness in competition.

Valve has imposed strict control of eSports tournaments, establishing strict standards on living, financial and conflicting conditions. Organizers must now comply with new rules or at risk of losing the right to organize the tournament.
