Denis "Larl" Sigitov, mid laner for Team Spirit, said that the champion picks in the playoffs of The International 2024 were completely unsuitable for him, preventing him from gaining an advantage over his opponents. This could be seen as a hint that the person responsible for champion selection at the tournament could be the cause of the team's failure.

He shared this in an interview with news portal DLTV.

“I feel like I played well with my heroes in most matches. But when it comes to playoffs, my champions almost don't get picked anymore. I play Batrider, can't play Earth Spirit - the champion is meta. We still chose DK for mid, even though I always thought of it as a carry hero. These heroes are not suitable for me. Very difficult. The opponent had the advantage from the start, put more pressure and I couldn't do anything for myself."

Larl mentioned that the problem was with the champion picks and he was against picking certain heroes that he felt were not only unsuitable for him but were also better suited as carries. This could be an implication that the person responsible for picking champions contributed to the team's failure.

Notably, Team Spirit's captain, Yaroslav "Miposhka" Naidenov, has repeatedly emphasized that he and coach, Airat "Silent" Gaziev, are the ones responsible for the team's champion picks.

The world champion said that the unfamiliar heroes chosen for him prevented him from reaching his full potential and also noted that opponents often have a draft advantage, affecting the overall result of Team Spirit at TI13.

Previously, it was reported that Illya "Yatoro" Mulyarchuk was pushed to his limits and even left a Dota 2 match midway through.
